Watching Spider-Man 2 in the movie theater! (10/08/2024)

Oh boy, this was really exciting!

As some of you may know, I'm not a huge fan of super-hero movies. As a matter of fact, I'm not a fan of them, period. But, a few years ago, a good friend of mine recommended I watch the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films, as according to him, they have a different style from most other super-hero films.
So I did, I bought a pretty cheap DVD of the movie and watched it. And... I loved it! I thought it was great fun, and couldn't wait to watch the rest of the trilogy.

And so, I quickly tried to get my hands on the DVD's of the second and third movies... and while I was successful with the third one, I couldn't find a DVD of the second one...
So I bought an UMD version of it!

Hell yeah! Watching movies on your PSP, how cool is that?
Well... it certainly is cool, but to be honest, the viewing experience isn't actually that great.
While the video file itself is of pretty good quality, having the same resolution as the DVD (which is greater than that of the PSP, mind you. It's like they wanted people to use this to pirate movies!), just somewhat compressed using the very good H264 codec, the PSP's screen is not ideal for watching movies, as the brightness isn't great and you'll see a lot of reflections on the screen.

Still, I enjoyed it for what it was, and although I didn't like it as much as the first movie, I still found it to be great.
I later watched the third movie, and honestly, I was just in love with these series.

After watcing the Sam Raimi movies, I pretty much stopped there, I had no interest in the two reboots of the Spider-Man series.
However, when No Way Home was announced, and it became pretty obvious that all 3 Spider-men were going to appear in the movie, I finally decided to watch the Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland movies.
I liked Garfield's ones, not as much as the original trilogy, but I thought they were good fun. The Tom Holland movies on the other hand tho, man, they blowed.

Still, I ended up really liking No Way Home, hell, I ended up watching it like twice or thrice in the theater (along with Matrix 4 one time... oh God, let's not talk about that one), and I was really exicted for what would come next.

And I think we may not have to wait much longer for that "next" part, because they're reissuing ALL of the Spider-Man movies in theaters! Wow!
I finally got to watch the first movie in the theater, and oh man, it was great. I loved seeing all the detail in the movie, all the grain, Mary Jane's... uh, personality. A good time all around!

That one we actually got to watch right on its release day, Friday, but just barely. Most of the seats were already taken when we went to get our tickets (a week early, mind you), so we had to settle for the 4th row, which wasn't too bad, I guess.
For the second movie, I wanted to get my tickets very early, but it turned out the friends I went to watch the movie with could only come on Saturday, so we grabbed the tickets for that day, where there was much less competition.

I had to pick up my friend from his workplace in Torremolinos, which was quite an adventure because the GPS sent me the wrong way, twice, and there just happened to be an accident in the middle of the road so traffic was stuck for a while. I ended up getting there 17 minutes late, and we were just in time to catch the... advertisements. Really? We arrived nearly 20 minutes late to the movie and the damn ads hadn't even ended yet?

Ads aside, we of course really enjoyed the movie.
While I still prefer the first and even the third one (this one is just too much of a depresso-fest!), I still really like this one, and I think it may just work a little better for the theater!
I was able to stay there the whole 2 hours without pissing myself (hard challenge), and finding a bathroom afterwards was a little complicated, but we did survive the whole ordeal, and made it back home in one piece.

I already have my tickets for the third movie this Friday, this time in a good spot, but it seems I'll be going alone this time (does no one like the third movie or what?).

I can't wait!
